Big Boi Mixes Outkast, Solo Cuts At NYC Show

Everyone has been missing the Hip Hop power duo ‘Outkast’ and since Big Boi’s recent release of his album, the aniticipation has sky rocketed! Thanks to Big Boi, the wait may soon be over!

NEW YORK — Big Boi has been carrying the Outkast banner with pride even though the Atlanta duo’s last two projects — 2003′s bundled solos offering, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below and 2006′s soundtrack collection, Idlewild — haven’t exactly been the best representations of the group as a unit.

On Monday in New York City, Big Boi once again did his best to make up for his partner in rhyme’s absence when he hit Brooklyn Bowl for a Labor Day set.

“[Andre 3000] is in the studio right now,” he told the crowd, explaining that after he finishes with his own solo project, the pair will reunite for a new Outkast album.

But as Big Boi performed the group’s hits, mixing in tracks from his Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, the usual elephant in the room was that Andre 3000 seemed as distant as the videos projecting Three Stacks’ image on the venue’s big screens.

Still, Big Boi powered through his Outkast set list, running through his verses from “Miss Jackson,” “Player’s Ball” and “Elevators” all sans an audio peep from Dre. Big Boi was efficient in his performance, moving nimbly from song to song; no complaints from the audience about the one-man show.

“It’s so many f—ing songs,” Big Boi told his DJ, Swift. “I don’t care what you play.” “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” boomed through the house speakers, but Big Boi quickly moved onto material from his proper solo debut.

“I know it’s been a minute,” Big said, in reference to the time between Idlewild and Sir Lucious Left Foot, which was released earlier this year after being stuck in limbo for a few years. “So just to give you some insight, we working,” he continued. “Everything is all Gucci. My thing is, I didn’t need to put out an album just because. It has to be about the music.”

With that, Big kicked off “Shutterbuggg,” and the party officially began. “I keep it player while some choose to play it safe,” Big Boi rapped over the cascading beat. “Boy, check the résumé, it’s risky business in the A.”

Dime Time Exclusive: Reggie Bush Will Be Stripped of Heisman Trophy

I know you been hearing the powers at be go back and fourth on whether they planned to take the Heisman Trophy from Reggie Bush’s time at USC away from him. Well Dimepiece has the verdict!

It looks like the Heisman Trophy trust is giving Reggie Bush the stiff arm.

Charles Robinson and Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports are reporting that by the end of September, the Heisman Trophy Trust will strip Reggie Bush of his Heisman Trophy.

Earlier this summer, the NCAA ruled the former star running back from Southern California and his family received illegal benefits during his three-year college career.

Bush, who is now playing for the New Orleans Saints, would be the first player to have the award taken away.

According to the story, the trust will vacate the award. Vince Young of Texas finished second in the voting. Longhorns coach Mack Brown has lobbied for Young to receive the award if Bush was stripped.

50 Cent, Perez Hilton Go Head-To-Head In Twitter Beef

(AllHipHop News) Rapper 50 Cent continues to shake up the “Twitterverse” with a series of tweets today that drew the scorn of celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton.

The rap star took to his Twitter page today (September 6th) and took aim at Perez Hilton, who labeled 50 Cent a “douche bag” in a tweet.

Today, 50 Cent addressed the issue when he jokingly tweeted that he had a friend shoot up a gay wedding, along with a link to a picture of people fleeing a tragic scene.

Hilton immediately noticed the tweets and replied.

“50 Cent joking about violence towards gays is about as expired as the days when he used to be musically relevant,” Perez Hilton tweeted.

50 replied that he wasn’t scared of the “pink mafia,” an alleged underground powerful group of gay Hollywood movers and shakers.

One celebrity notable, in particular, brought more than her usual sophisticated A-game to the festivities — specifically when she exclusively was interviewed by Blackvoices.com.

Former ‘Young and the Restless’ actress Victoria Rowell — who has been on a crusade to expose the racial discrimination in the soap opera world — had a little fun with our cameras backstage; the Portland, Maine native, who’s a best-selling author and 11-time NAACP Image Award winner showed off her rap skills.

Rihanna Reveals Title of New Album: Loud

Trend setting Songstress, Rihanna finally reveals the name of her new album. Check out the release date and exclusive track info.

Rihanna already gave us her “Rockstar 101″ best on last year’s Rated R, so this time she’s turning it up with a new CD whose title says it all. The singer revealed in a chat with fans over the weekend that her fifth studio effort will be called Loud.

It’s due out on November 2 and is preceded by the single “Only Girl (In the World),” which premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show early Tuesday (September 7).

“I’m done recording the whole album,” Rihanna revealed during the chat, which took place on the official fansite Rihanna Daily. “I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you’ve got some great songs to justify it. I didn’t want to go backward and remake [2007's] Good Girl Gone Bad. I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna, and it’s perfect for us.”

The singer said she’s never been this excited about any album she’s done, urging the members of her RihannaNavy to “get LOUD everybody, get crazy, get excited, cuz I’m pumped. I’m just gonna be ME, cuz that’s what u guys love the most, and that’s what makes me feel best.

Just being normal, normal for me is LOUD! Sassy, fun, flirty, energetic.”

While Rihanna said she’ll miss the Rated R era, she promised that one year after that dark, emotional effort, “nothing compares to the album I just made.” She also teased some “surprise” collaborations on the disc, though she didn’t reveal any names during the chat.

“Girl” is produced by Stargate, who also collaborated with Rihanna on such early hits as “Don’t Stop the Music,” “Hate That I Love You” and the R banger “Rude Boy.”

Ravens Reel in WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh

Good news for T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Looks like his new home will be on the East Coast with the Baltimore Ravens. More of the Wide Receiver’s fate here in this story.

We think Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome just shouted “Championship!” … though we suspect he knows how to correctly pronounce “Houshmandzadeh.”

Baltimore reached a deal on Sunday with WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who was dumped by the Seahawks over the weekend after playing just one season of the five-year, $40 million pact he signed a year ago.

Houshmandzadeh confirmed the deal to USA TODAY.

With Houshmandzadeh guaranteed $7 million in 2010, Seattle will be on the hook for most of his salary while Baltimore kicks in $855,000.

Houshmandzadeh provides further receiving depth for a team that seems ready to air it out after acquiring WR Anquan Boldin in the offseason. With another addition, WR Donte’ Stallworth, sidelined indefinitely by a broken foot, Houshmandzadeh is likely to take over in the slot while he learns the playbook.

Houshmandzadeh should move the chains — he has averaged 87 grabs per year since 2004 — but he won’t stretch the field like the fleet Stallworth as he’s managed only 10.5 yards per reception over the last three years. However he has toiled with subpar quarterback play lately with Matt Hasselbeck hobbled in Seattle in 2009 while noodle-armed Ryan Fitzpatrick was the primary signal caller for Cincinnati in 2008 when Houshmandzadeh was still with the Bengals.
